How we use your information.
Honeycomb Books is designed for adult purchasers. We do not offer child accounts, and we keep personalization out of reusable art and analytics.
Effective September 22, 2026
We use adult contact, order, personalization, payment-status, and delivery information to provide your order. Shopify also processes checkout and customer data for its services, including advertising and personalization through Shopify Network Intelligence. Your choices are explained below.
Information we collect
Shopify and the selected payment provider process payment credentials. Honeycomb does not ask customers to send card numbers by email and does not place full card numbers in its book-production records.
- Adult purchaser information, such as name, email address, support messages, and delivery address.
- Book choices, format, and adult-entered dedication text, which may include a child’s first name.
- Order identifiers, payment status, totals, fraud-prevention signals, shipment status, and tracking information.
- An email address and requested book theme when an adult asks to hear about a future book.
- Optional first-party analytics, only after you allow them: a random tab-session identifier, public page and builder-step events, broad traffic-source and campaign categories, screen-size category, and checkout-to-purchase attribution. We do not collect form text, raw URLs, IP addresses, or recordings in visitor analytics.
- Optional Google Analytics on public storefront pages, only after you allow analytics: sanitized page paths and selected book-builder events. Google may receive browser and device details, an IP address during the request, and analytics cookie identifiers. We do not send names, dedications, form text, or private URL parameters as analytics events.
How we use information
- Create, review, print, ship, support, correct, replace, cancel, or refund an order.
- Send transactional messages about production, delays, alternatives, shipment, delivery, or a refund.
- Prevent fraud, secure the service, maintain financial and tax records, and comply with law.
- Respond to support and future-book requests.
- Improve broad site flow using consented analytics events that exclude names, dedications, addresses, emails, configuration tokens, and private file locations.
Children’s information
The site and checkout are for adults. A parent, guardian, or authorized adult may write a dedication, including a child’s first name if desired, solely to personalize a book.
We do not request a child photo, likeness, birthday, exact age, school, location, voice, social profile, email address, or child login. If we learn that information was submitted directly by a child, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Shopify checkout and Network Intelligence
Our checkout and commerce services are hosted by Shopify. Shopify collects and processes information when you use those services and make purchases. Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled: Shopify combines customer interaction data from our store, other merchants, and its own services to support product improvements, fraud prevention, personalization, and advertising. This advertising use may be considered sharing or targeted advertising under U.S. state privacy laws.
Information is shared with Shopify and service providers that may process it outside your country. Shopify describes its own processing and available rights in its Consumer Privacy Policy. We keep book dedication text out of Shopify cart attributes and Honeycomb’s optional site analytics.
Optional visitor analytics
Honeycomb's visitor analytics and Google Analytics on public storefront pages stay off until you choose Allow analytics. Because Google is a new analytics provider, we ask for a new choice even if you previously allowed Honeycomb's own analytics. Use the footer control to change your preference at any time. Global Privacy Control disables this collection. Turning analytics off stops future storefront events and removes the current Honeycomb analytics session from your browser.
Honeycomb uses a random identifier for a tab session, ending after 30 minutes of inactivity or when the tab closes. If you consent, we can connect a checkout to its payment outcome without copying customer or personalization details into Honeycomb's visitor analytics. Signed-in owner and flagged test traffic are excluded from Honeycomb visitor reports; flagged test traffic is also excluded from Google Analytics.
Honeycomb's visitor sessions, events, and checkout links are removed after 90 days on the next analytics collection or report request. Google processes and retains its analytics data under its own settings and policies; turning analytics off does not erase data already collected. Aggregate Honeycomb report exports may be retained longer. Order records follow the separate retention policy below.
Retention and deletion
Personalized production files are kept in protected systems and scheduled for deletion 30 days after authoritative delivery. Reusable, non-personal story and art assets are kept separately.
Order, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, support, and legal records may be retained longer when reasonably needed for those purposes. Future-book requests are kept until fulfilled, withdrawn, or no longer useful. Backups may take additional time to cycle out.
Your choices and requests
The footer analytics control applies to Honeycomb's and Google Analytics on the public storefront. Shopify checkout has separate privacy controls. To opt out of Shopify’s sharing of customer data for advertising, use the Shopify Privacy Portal linked below. Shopify’s privacy controls also recognize applicable Global Privacy Control signals on its services.
Email support@shophoneybooks.com to ask what personal information is associated with an order, request a reasonable correction or deletion, withdraw a future-book request, or ask a privacy question. We may need to verify the adult requester and may retain information required for an order, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal obligation.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the updated effective date will appear at the top. Material changes affecting information already collected will be handled as required by applicable law.
